Coleman was a coal mining town in Crowsnest Pass in the Rocky Mountains in southwest Alberta. It was established in 1903 to house workers of the International Coal and Coke Company. In 1911 the town had a population of about 1500 people.
Martin and Anastazia Bobowsky moved to Coleman sometime between September 1909 and July 1910 and stayed until 1912. They were enumerated in Coleman in the 1911 census. Martin was working as a coal miner and five miners were boarding with the family.
