Biography

Eleanor Sara Griffin was born at 126 Argyle Street, Toronto on July 16, 1914. She was the second of three daughters born to Edward Thomas Griffin, a lather, and Eleanor May Booth. On October 21, 1915 Eleanor moved to Detroit with her family. Eleanor’s sister Bernadine was born in Detroit, probably in the summer of 1916. Between 1916 and 1921 the Griffin family moved back to Toronto. The Canadian census taken in June 1921 recorded them living at 99 Northcote Avenue in Trinity Bellwoods not far from Argyle Street. Eleanor and her older sister Josephine were attending school and Bernadine was a pre-schooler.
