Anastazia Kondratiuk moved to 6-501 Markham Street with her daughters Angela, Millie and Alice circa 1940. About a year later Millie married and moved away. Angela moved to a rooming house in 1945 shortly before she got married. Anastazia was living at 501 Markham when she died in 1946. Her daughter Alice, by then 22 years old, continued to live in the apartment after her mother died. When Alice married Frank Martin circa 1950 the couple stayed at 501 Markham until about 1953.
The original building, pictured, is still intact today. It is a three story, detached 8 bedroom, 8 bathroom house. The eight individual units are probably bed-sitters, typically one bedroom with a sitting area and cooking facilities.
